Whatever ways you want to describe death, it is a very sensitive topic as death creates huge holes in their love ones’ hearts and often unpredictable. I cannot speak for others, but I can at least share my experience dealing with a loss of someone that is very special to my family and myself.

On the 6th August 2021, my late father-in-law drew his last breath after 2 weeks been discharged from the hospital battling Covid-19. He had spent about 3 weeks in Hospital Tawakal previously and naturally we were hoping for him to get better and indeed he was getting better until he suddenly collapsed on that fateful afternoon.

Coming from a Muslim upbringings, I had no clue on how to plan and arrange for a Buddhist funeral and my wife and her family naturally were very upset dealing with the passing of my late FIL. At that very moment, I knew that I had to get some help with the funeral and the only person that I knew that would be able to assist me and the family is Min. He is our next-door neighbor, and I was so glad that we have him as our neighbor and even more grateful that we chose him to help us with the funeral.

He had made the whole process, A to Z seemed flawless and well executed. We had no complaint whatsoever with the service and in fact our relatives that could not make it to the funeral, some are overseas, some are out of state, had the opportunity to attend virtually to see the funeral and they were very impressed and happy to see that final send off.

I am not a man with fancy words and has eloquent style of storytelling but what I can summarize is that he gave us the chance to mourn without having to run around arranging the funeral. Therefore, I would like to thank again to Min and his team for making our most painful day a little less painful.

What I would like to do differently, perhaps, having a pre-planning arrangement for the rest of my in-laws family would be a good start. As I said before, we were just lucky that Min is our next door neighbor.
